Albee Al Jersey City-based rapper, 2nd man charged with attempted murder in Passaic shooting

Albee Al, the famed Jersey City-based rapper on the rise, has been charged with attempted murder in connection to a August shooting, along with another Jersey City man, in Passaic, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Valdes announced.

Albert Robinson, better known by his rap name, Albee Al, 32, of Irvington, and Darnell  Reeves, 35, of Jersey City, were both charged with two counts of first degree attempted murder, unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a handgun for an unlawful purpose, and certain persons not to possess weapons, Valdes said in a statement.

On August 23rd, members of the Passaic Police Department responded to the area of Wall
Street on a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located evidence of a crime scene as well as a 34-year-old male Paterson resident who sustained a non-fatal gunshot wound, officials said..

The victim was immediately transported to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson for treatment. Additionally, a 30-year-old male Paterson resident was shot at but not injured, authorities said.

Based on the investigation Reeves was charged and arrested on September 5th in Kenilworth by the New Jersey State Police Fugitive Task Force. Robinson was then charged and arrested on September 6th in Avenel by the New Jersey State Police Fugitive Task Force, officials said.

The maximum sentence for each count of first degree attempted murder is 10-20 years in state prison with 85 percent of the term to be served before parole, pursuant to the No Early Release Act and 5 years parole supervision.

Albee Al was previously accused of the Jersey City murder of Jermaine Williams back in June 2010, but he was acquitted of all charges.
