Raising Rare Breed Chickens: Old English Pheasant Fowl

Old English Pheasant Fowl are a very rare breed of chicken listed with the Rare Breed Society in the UK. This last year we decided to hatch some of these wonderful chickens using our broody Buff Orpingtons. Unfortunately that didn’t quite go to plan so we had to rely on our contingency arrangements and use an artificial incubator and brooder. The entire process was so rewarding and the breed has been an absolute joy. In this video we take you through their first twelve months.

We breed Buff Orpington chickens and have kept them for a number of years.
We grow our own food on our smallholding and endeavour to be self-sufficient. Subscribe to see more of our life including self sufficiency videos, recipes, garden tips and chicken keeping.
